Marc Brickman, lighting designer and Marc Janowitz, lighting director
for the national tour of Matisyahu, are utilizing MDG’s
ATMOSPHERE hazers and a MAX fog generator for the band’s
gigs,
which range from rock clubs to amphitheaters to New York
City’s
Hammerstein Ballroom. A.C.T. Lighting is the sole US distributor of MDG
fog and haze generators.
“The lighting for the tour runs from sculptural to intimate
to
very energetic when the band is improvising and jamming,”
Janowitz reports. “I’m using one or two ATMOSPHERE
hazers
for light effects and atmosphere; they give a good canvas for the light
beams to read.”
ATMOSPHERE hazers produce the finest haze on the market and are a
perfect match for lighting needs. They offer continuous or momentary
haze emission, operate extremely quietly and boast the longest hanging
times.
The team also employs a MAX fogger for dramatic emphasis.
“When
the band is performing outside the fogger works in tandem with the
hazers: When the haze has cleared out we give a big old blast with the
MAX fogger. Sometimes there are high winds but we never lose atmosphere
-- it’s pretty unbelievable.” The extremely
powerful MAX
runs virtually noiselessly and has the finest fog and longest hanging
times. This maximum-output generator is designed to take
users’
fog needs to the max.
Janowitz is no stranger to MDG gear. “When I was lighting
director for BLUE MAN GROUP we used MDG equipment for pretty much every
show where atmosphere was required,” he notes.
